Rumsfeld Outlines Pentagon Intel Authorities, Coordination with DNI

For the first time since the creation of a new national intelligence director's office, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has issued a directive detailing the responsibilities of the Pentagon's intelligence executive and spelling out the military's jurisdiction over intel activities. The 14-page directive, signed Nov. 23, details the authorities vested in the office of under secretary of defense for intelligence, headed by Stephen Cambone, and explains how the Pentagon will coordinate its intel efforts with the office of the new director...
