Senate authorizers voted yesterday to allow the Space Force to absorb certain Air National Guard units without authority from governors of the states overseeing those units. In a 25-3 vote on the fiscal year 2025 defense authorization bill, the Senate Armed Services Committee included a Defense Department proposal to transfer several Air National Guard units performing specific space missions into the Space Force.
