SOCOM Prepares RFP For Tactical Communications Hand-Held Radio

U.S. Special Operations Command is seeking industry's help to develop a next-generation tactical communications hand-held radio that will be available in both urban and maritime variants. These hand-held devices "are intended to provide SOF [special operations forces] with a family of small, lightweight, easily upgradeable, tactical, multiband, multifunction, multi-mission devices enabling SOF teams to communicate over a frequency range," the May 7 presolicitation states.
