State Department Requests $457 Million Increase In Foreign Military Financing For FY-03

The State Department is asking lawmakers for a $457 million antiterrorism increase to its fiscal year 2003 foreign military financing account, senior department officials said yesterday. The majority of the requested increase is earmarked for two areas: to support states that have committed to assisting the United States on its war on terrorism, among them Jordan, Pakistan, India and Oman; and to help Colombia protect an oil pipeline, Joseph Bowab, a deputy assistant secretary of state in the department's Bureau...
