U.S. Approves AMRAAM Sale to Egypt

The United States has approved for sale to Egypt a surface-to-air version of Raytheon's Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile, Defense Secretary William Cohen announced today in Cairo. The short-range missile will replace an older Russian SA-6 antiaircraft missile system, Cohen said, but he demurred when asked how much the system would cost.
