V-22 Forced to Make Emergency Landings

A V-22 Osprey aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing aboard an amphibious ship during tests this week -- the second time in 10 days that serious problems required this particular aircraft to land immediately, according to the Navy. The V-22, a helicopter-plane hybrid being developed by Bell Helicopter Textron and Boeing, receives special scrutiny inside and outside the Pentagon because of two fatal crashes in 2000 that forced officials to review and restructure the program.
