Vigor Works awarded MSV(L) contract

Steel fabrication company Vigor Works was awarded a contract Sept. 28 for development of the Maneuver Support Vessel (Light), according to a Defense Department announcement. The Army intends to use the MSV(L) as a replacement for the Landing Craft Mechanized-8 to allow for quick delivery of troops and combat-configured equipment. The $979.8 million contract has an estimated completion date of Sept. 28, 2027. A Sept. 29 release by the Army notes it is the "first new Army watercraft in decades"...
