Warner: Replace One-Third Of Manned Platforms With Unmanned By 2010

Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman John Warner (R-VA) said today he wants the military, within 10 years, to replace one-third of its tactical aircraft and ground combat vehicles with unmanned systems. During a hearing on the Pentagon's fiscal year 2000 budget, Warner told Defense Secretary William Cohen that he has discussed the idea with other committee members, and they back him on it.
