White House Names Sheaks to New Senior-Level Arms Control Post

President Clinton has nominated James Sheaks for the new position of assistant secretary of state for verification and compliance, the White House announced today. Sheaks will be "responsible within the Department of State for the overall supervision (including oversight of both policy and resources) of all matters relating to verification and compliance with international arms control, nonproliferation, and disarmament agreements and commitments," according to the announcement.
