White House objects to House effort to increase oversight of cyber ops

The White House opposes a portion of the House fiscal year 2018 defense authorization bill that would grant Congress new oversight of cyber operations, according to a statement of administration policy from the Office of Management and Budget. The bipartisan provision would require the defense secretary to notify the congressional defense committees within 48 hours about the conduct of sensitive military cyber operations and the results of any legal review of a cyber capability that is intended to be used...
