White House Taps Chandler To Head Up Pacific Air Forces

The Air Force's No. 2 official in charge of plans and programs has been pegged by President Bush and Defense Secretary Robert Gates to head Pacific Air Forces, the Pentagon announced today. The nominee -- Lt. Gen. Carrol Chandler, Air Force deputy chief of staff for operations, plans and requirements -- will replace Gen. Paul Hester, who has held the command post since July 2004.
