Young: Air Force Needs to Invest in Raptor Upgrades, Not More Aircraft

The Defense Department's top weapons buyer wants the Air Force to invest service dollars into bolstering the capabilities of its projected F-22A fleet, rather than use those funds to expand the Raptor production line. Senior blue-suited officials have argued the air service could transition funds in its fiscal year 2009 budget plan tagged to shut down the F-22A line into additional Raptor buys. The Air Force has $116 million set aside in the FY-09 blueprint to shutter the fighter's production...
