Young: Navy To Compete BAMS UAV Program

Navy acquisition executive John Young officially announced today the service will acquire the Broad Area Maritime Surveillance unmanned aerial vehicle through an open competition, not a sole-source approach. BAMS is envisioned as a high-altitude UAV for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. The Navy is buying two Northrop Grumman-made Global Hawks to develop a concept of operations for BAMS.
