Young Seeks Grip on Sustainment Costs of Large-Scale Weapon Programs

Aug. 22, 2008 -- Defense acquisition chief John Young has instructed managers of the Pentagon's most expensive weapon systems to submit performance goals for their programs that would improve the tracking of these systems' costs and effectiveness over their life cycles, according to Defense Department officials and documents.
