Boeing announced today it has created Boeing Global Services, a new business unit that brings together the services groups from the company's commercial airplanes and defense, space and security businesses.

Stanley Deal has been named president and chief executive of the new group, the company said.

"Boeing Global Services will bring together core capabilities currently within Commercial Aviation Services and Boeing Defense, Space & Security's Global Services & Support group," Boeing said. "While some defense and commercial customer fleet support will remain within the two existing business units, the new unit will provide a broad portfolio of advanced services and incorporate the capabilities of various Boeing subsidiaries, including Aviall and Jeppesen."

Since 2014, Deal has been senior vice president of Boeing's 12,000-employee commercial aviation services business. He has also been general manager of supply chain management and operations at the commercial airplanes business and joined the company as an engineer on the C-17 program.

"Deal will begin immediately finalizing and executing detailed and deliberate plans to structure and organize the new business while ensuring all near-term customer commitments are met," Boeing said.

Boeing Global Services is expected to be fully operational by the third quarter of 2017 "with a small core headquarters group based in Dallas." However, most of the work will remain at its existing locations "for the foreseeable future," the company said.
