Defense Business Board meets with ONA chief

The Defense Business Board is having a closed meeting at the Pentagon today to discuss a range of strategic planning and modernization issues with senior defense officials, including a classified briefing with the chief of the secretive Office of Net Assessment.

The board is scheduled to receive a classified briefing from ONA Director Jim Baker on "current and future strategic challenges to DOD," according to a Federal Register notice.

The board will also meet with senior executives from Goldman Sachs, Activision, Ernst & Young, and Yale School of Management along with representatives from the office of the under secretary of defense for acquisitions and sustainment, office of the under secretary of defense for personnel and readiness, and the office of the deputy assistant secretary of defense for civilian personnel policy, the notice states.

Board members will also hear from representatives from the Pentagon comptroller's office and other senior officials from the DOD information, data and business management enterprise.

Senior executives from PepsiCo and United Parcel Service along with representatives from the Defense Logistics Agency, Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency and Washington Headquarters Service will also brief the board.

Additionally, "panel participants will provide information on current issues and challenges, and engage in discussions involving commercial or financial information that is privileged or confidential," the notice states.
