The Defense Department's inspector general on Sept. 17 released a report finding the Army and Marine Corps did not properly store or maintain at least $203.7 million worth of prepositioned stocks under U.S. European Command's authority.

In the IG's review of five locations, it found there are potential concerns with the maintenance of prepositioned stocks at other EUCOM locations that follow the same guidance.

"Without adequately managed prepositioned equipment, the Army and the Marine Corps may not be able to fully support a request to provide immediate crisis response when the need arises in Europe or Africa," the report states.
