DOD unveils Missile Defense Review

The Defense Department today unveiled a new blueprint for missile defense spending, posture and policy.

The Missile Defense Review calls for "urgent investment" in next-generation capabilities including space-based systems -- such as kinetic and laser interceptors -- as part of an envisioned future shield needed to address an expanded range of new and advanced offensive missiles threatening the United States and its allies, a senior Trump administration official told reporters late yesterday.

The document outlines the first major revision of missile defense policy, strategy and architecture since the Obama administration's 2010 Ballistic Missile Defense Review.
