General Dynamics set to relocate headquarters

General Dynamics is planning to move its corporate headquarters to Reston, a spokeswoman told Inside Defense Tuesday.

The company, now based in Fairview Park in Falls Church, has submitted plans to build a new facility on undeveloped land in Reston, according to Lucy Ryan.

"We did look at hundreds of sites across the U.S. and in the D.C. region," she said. The Reston site "met what we needed."

General Dynamics' current lease expires in March 2019, Ryan said. The new office is envisioned as being home to the company's 150 current corporate employees, though Ryan said it would accommodate up to about 200 employees and contractors.
