House Armed Services Committee gains eight new GOP members

Eight new Republican lawmakers have joined the House Armed Services Committee.

Panel Chairman Mac Thornberry (R-TX) said in a statement:

"The Armed Services Committee has a unique and solemn role in Congress' first responsibility, which is defending the country. I am grateful that these Members are willing to dedicate their talents to rebuilding and reforming America's Military."

The new GOP committee members are:

Rep. Scott DesJarlais, TN

Rep. Ralph Abraham, LA

Rep. Trent Kelly, MS

Rep. Mike Gallagher, WI

Rep. Matt Gaetz, FL

Rep. Don Bacon, NE

Rep. Jim Banks, IN

Rep. Liz Cheney, WY
