Some must-reads from this week's edition of Inside the Army:

1. Army leaders are considering immediate opportunities -- including late adjustments to the fiscal year 2018 spending proposal -- to bolster investments in capabilities needed to support Multi-Domain Battle, a draft concept for future war that is expected to set the stage for revision of doctrine, modernization spending, organizational constructs and more, according to a senior service official.

2. The Army's Rapid Capabilities Office is gaining insights from across the service and is close to determining its first pursuits, according to its director of operations.

3. As the Army continues to explore options for vehicle modernization, the service is turning to a "common platform concept" for its Armored Brigade Combat Teams, according to multiple service officials.

4. The first prototype of the Army's largest modernization project -- the $13.8 billion Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle -- is in the production assembly phase with plans for the service to take delivery of the vehicle in mid-December, beginning in earnest a 20-year campaign to replace the M113, according to the program manager.
