1. The Army relies on its total force to satisfy the Defense Strategic Guidance, and the service is taking measures to improve integration and readiness of the reserve component, according to the head of Forces Command.

Army leaders this week plan to consider formally launching a new big-ticket armored fighting vehicle program, advancing plans for a Mobile Protected Firepower capability to bolster infantry units in fights against a near-peer adversary -- such as Russia -- and setting the stage for an expected competition between General Dynamics and BAE Systems estimated to be worth at least $3 billion.
