The bulk of this Wednesday INSIDER Daily Digest focuses on the Senate Armed Services Committee's version of the fiscal year 2024 defense policy bill, the full text of which was released this week.

We start out with some of the Army-specific language in the bill:

Senate lawmakers want Army to team with Office of Strategic Capital

The Senate Armed Services Committee, in its fiscal year 2024 defense policy bill, is asking for more collaboration between the Pentagon's new Office of Strategic Capital and Army Futures Command.

As for the Navy, there's language on carrier air wings and amphibious warships:

Senate lawmakers support temporary decrease in carrier air wings

The Senate Armed Services Committee is supporting a Navy request to reduce the required number of carrier air wings the service maintains by statute for the next two years.

Senate bill would withhold funds until Navy commits to 31 amphibious warships

The Senate Armed Services Committee's defense policy bill aims to limit the Navy's use of certain funds until the sea service delivers a 30-year shipbuilding plan that maintains a minimum of 31 amphibious warships.

Here's coverage of the cyber language in the bill from our colleagues at Inside Cybersecurity:

Senate authorizers' defense policy bill includes cyber incident info sharing provision

The Senate Armed Services Committee's version of the fiscal year 2024 defense authorization bill includes measures on cyber incident information sharing and implementing guidance on "memory-safe software programming."

Last but by no means least, we have coverage from yesterday's nomination hearing for the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff:

Brown seeks more budget certainty for munitions manufacturers

Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Charles Brown, who has been nominated to serve as the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told senators today he believes the Pentagon needs to commit to more multiyear procurement deals to build the weapon stockpiles necessary to aid Ukraine and Taiwan.
