Lawmakers hear testimony from SOCOM, TRANSCOM

Senior officials from U.S. Special Operations and Transportation commands are testifying on Capitol Hill this morning on the status of their organizations.

Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations/Low-Intensity Conflict Theresa Whelan and Gen. Raymond Thomas, head of SOCOM, are testifying before the House Armed Services emerging threats and capabilities subcommittee on special operations forces 30 years after SOCOM's creation.

Additionally, TRANSCOM chief Gen. Darren McDew is testifying on the status of his organization before the Senate Armed Services Committee.
