The MITRE Corp. has named former Air Force acquisition executive Bill LaPlante general manager of the firm's Center for National Security, which includes two of the company's federally funded research and development centers.

LaPlante joined MITRE in late 2015 as vice president of the intelligence portfolio within the National Security Engineering Center, part of the CNS.

CNS also includes the National Cybersecurity FFRDC.

"In his new role, Dr. LaPlante will be accountable for increasing MITRE's strategic value across the company's U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), intelligence, and cybersecurity portfolios," the company said.
