The Navy yesterday announced a $23.9 million contract modification award to BAE Systems for the post-shakedown availability of an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer.

BAE will conduct the work for the Paul Ignatius (DDG-117), which is a Flight IIA destroyer.

"The work to be performed will include correction of government responsible trial card deficiencies, new work identified between custody transfer and the time of PSA, and incorporation of approved engineering changes that were not incorporated during the construction period, which are not otherwise the building yard's responsibility under the ship construction contract," the announcement reads.

The work for the PSA should be finished by May 2020, according to the contract announcement.

In February, the service announced Huntington Ingalls Industries delivered the ship to the Navy. The service plans to commission the vessel in July.
