The Pentagon reprogrammed roughly $30 million to a special account for auxiliary vessels to maintain a dozen ships during the ongoing continuing resolution.

“Funds are required to support ten Large Medium-Speed Roll-on/Roll-off ships and five Roll-on/Roll-off container ships during [the fiscal year 2020] continuing resolution period Oct. 1, 2019 through Nov. 21, 2019,” according to reprogramming documents dated Nov. 22 and signed by acting Pentagon Comptroller Elaine McCusker.

Funding is also required to maintain the Navy’s two hospital ships, the document said.

The money was reprogrammed from the Navy’s operation and maintenance account to the National Defense Sealift Fund.

Separately, lawmakers last week passed a second continuing resolution for FY-20 which expires Dec. 20.
