Roper joins board of Volansi

Commercial drone company Volansi said today it has named Will Roper, the former Air Force acquisition chief, to its board of directors, where he will focus on its "strategy, operations, and growth in defense markets."

Volansi specializes in autonomous, vertical take-off and landing middle-mile drone delivery services and has been awarded a Phase II Small Business Innovation Research award. The company said it was also named an official vendor of the Air Force's Skyborg Vanguard program.

Last month, strategic advisory firm Pallas Advisors named Roper to a part-time role as a senior counselor. The company said he will "bring his disruptive technology acuity to the private sector."
