Science Applications International Corp. said profit in its most recent quarter reached $33 million, the same figure the company reported in the same three-month period the prior year.

Quarterly sales rose to $1.2 billion. The company attributed the $206 million revenue increase from the same quarter the prior year to an extra week in the quarter as well as the acquisition of Scitor and newly awarded programs. However, SAIC saw "lower current quarter supply chain material volume . . . as a result of a recompete contract loss last year."

During a call with analysts Monday morning, Tony Moraco, SAIC's chief executive, said the contractor is open to acquisitions that provide access to new markets or add capabilities but doesn't see the need for a "transformational" acquisition.

"We're one of the larger government services providers," he said. "I don't see the need to scale up the organization."
