SDA issues draft solicitation for F2 system

The Space Development Agency has issued a draft solicitation for the "Fire-control On Orbit-support-to-the-war Fighter Program" for its Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture.

The role of the F2 System is to simulate the ability to provide fire control in support of global detection, warning and precision tracking of advanced missile threats, including hypersonic missile systems, the draft states.

The agency is planning to procure and deploy eight F2 space vehicles with electro-optical and infrared sensors that are scheduled to lift off by the second quarter of fiscal year 2026 in a single launch, the Defense Department said.

In addition, SDA may also acquire additional satellites and sensor payloads under other transaction authority to inform requirements and constellation design.

DOD plans to award the contract to more than one vendor, the draft reads.
