Senior defense officials are scheduled to speak at several events around Washington this week, including the Surface Navy Association's annual symposium.

Tuesday

The Surface Navy Association's annual symposium begins in Arlington, VA, and runs through Thursday.

The Atlantic Council hosts a discussion with Army Chief of Staff Gen. James McConville on the service's role in "great power competition."

FedScoop holds its Data Cloud Summit.

Wednesday

The House Foreign Affairs Committee holds a hearing with Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction John Sopko.

The House Armed Services Committee holds a hearing with outside experts to discuss the Defense Department's role in competing with China.

Thursday

The Senate Armed Services Committee hears from nominees chosen to be the next Army under secretary and assistant secretary of the Navy for energy, installations and environment.

AFCEA Washington hosts a luncheon with the director and executive deputy director of the Defense Information Services Agency.

Friday

The Center for Strategic and International Studies hosts a discussion with Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. John Hyten on security challenges posed by U.S. competitors.
