The week ahead

The week ahead offers several opportunities to hear from senior Pentagon officials and outside experts regarding the future of U.S. national security in the wake of a historic election.

Monday

Defense Secretary ash Carter is scheduled to speak about innovation at start-up incubator 1776. Carter will then embark on three days of travel to military installations in California, Texas and Florida.

Tuesday

The National Defense Industrial Association will host a panel of experts to discussion post-election implications for national security.

Marine Corps Brig. Gen. Rodger Turner speaks at an amphibious warfare event sponsored by the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments.

Wednesday

The Professional Services Council will host its 2016 Vision Conference Wednesday and Thursday. The event features a keynote address by Pentagon Comptroller Mike McCord. Also set to speak are John Tenaglia, deputy director for contract policy and international contracting in the defense procurement and acquisition policy office; David Mosher, assistant director for national security in the Congressional Budget Office; Beth Cobert, acting director of the Office for Personnel Management; and Charlie Phalen, director of the National Background Investigations Bureau. Inside Defense is a sponsor of the event.

The CyberCon 2016 conference will showcase a variety of panels with national security officials and industry experts focused on cybersecurity and information technology.

Thursday

The DefenseOne Summit will feature senior leaders from the Pentagon and Capitol Hill to discuss "crisis, conflict and continuity."
