The week ahead

The week ahead is driven by two confirmation hearings for nominees to become senior Defense Department officials, along with a technology summit featuring Pentagon speakers.

Monday

The Air Force Association's Mitchell Institute hosts a panel of Air Force officers to discuss the future of air superiority.

Tuesday

AFA hosts a breakfast with the chief of Air Combat Command.

The Senate Armed Services Committee will hold a hearing to consider the nomination of Richard Spencer to be the next Navy secretary.

The House Rules Committee will begin consideration of amendments to the fiscal year 2018 defense authorization bill.

Wednesday

The Senate Armed Services Committee will hold a hearing to consider nominees to become the principal deputy under secretary of defense for policy, the assistant secretary of defense for special operations and low-intensity conflict, the under secretary of the Army and Navy general counsel.

The House Rules Committee will consider amendments to the FY-18 defense authorization bill.

Thursday

DefenseOne hosts a "tech summit" in Washington featuring a variety of Pentagon officials.

Friday

AFA holds a breakfast with the chief of Air Force Materiel Command.
