The president has nominated Air Force Gen. Tod Wolters to be the next Supreme Allied Commander, Europe and head of U.S. European Command, the Pentagon announced this morning.
Wolters is currently serving as head of U.S. Air Forces Europe, U.S. Air Forces Africa, Allied Air Command and director of the Joint Air Power Competence Centre, a Defense Department statement reads.
If confirmed by Congress, Wolters would replace Army Gen. Curtis Scaparrotti.
Scaparrotti recently testified before the House and Senate on his organization's fiscal year 2020 budget request.
