Michigan lawmakers want accelerated funding for humvee upgrades

Michigan state lawmakers are asking Congress and the Army to speed up funding for upgrades to the humvee fleet, citing safety concerns stemming from rollover accidents, according to a recent petition. The document, delivered to Congress and the service Oct. 28, notifies federal lawmakers and the Army of a Michigan resolution, adopted Oct. 14, that urges accelerated federal funding "to improve military vehicle safety from rollover accidents" involving the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle, better known as the humvee.
