Air Force awards first contract to Boeing for Presidential Aircraft recapitalization

The Air Force on Friday awarded Boeing a $25.7 million contract to perform risk reduction for the Presidential Aircraft Replacement program. The replacement for the legacy VC-25A will be based on an existing commercial aircraft, the Boeing 747-8. While the initial contract is for risk-reduction activities, the Air Force will later issue modifications for the future purchase of the three jets, as well as to design, modify and test the aircraft to meet the mission, according to a Jan. 29...
