Navy determined advance planning for CVN-73 overhaul can be shortened

The Navy has determined after a detailed analysis that advance planning for the overhaul of the George Washington (CVN-73) can be shortened from 36 to 30 months by reusing planning products. The six-month reduction in advance planning resulted in a 19 percent decrease in planning hours compared to the refueling and complex overhaul of the first Nimitz-class aircraft carrier the Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72), Naval Sea Systems Command spokeswoman Colleen O'Rourke wrote in a July 29 email to Inside the Navy...
