Lockheed, GD, Harris represented at Trump meeting

Several defense industry leaders went to the White House this morning to attend a meeting of manufacturing chief executives.

According to a pool report, Marillyn Hewson of Lockheed Martin, Phebe Novakovic of General Dynamics, Bill Brown of Harris and Greg Hayes of United Technologies were in attendance. Also present were the chief executives of Johnson & Johnson, Ford Motor Co., GE, 3M, Campbell Soup Co. and International Paper, among others.

Representing the White House were President Trump, Vice President Pence, Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross and OMB Director Mick Mulvaney, among others.

According to the pool report, Trump began the meeting by saying "some of the great people in business" were present.

He mentioned companies that had returned jobs to the United States, specifically calling out Fiat, Carrier and Ford, among others, the pool report states. He then addressed Hewson, saying, "Marillyn, you've gotten a lot of credit."

Trump also took note of the companies present that produce weapon systems. "Nobody makes the products like we do for the military," he said, according to the pool report. "Nobody."
