The Pentagon's former acquisition chief, Frank Kendall, has joined Renaissance Strategic Advisors as an executive-in-residence, according to a statement from the aerospace and defense advisory firm.

Kendall, who was the Pentagon's acquisition chief from May 2012 to January 2017, last worked as a managing partner at Renaissance Strategic Advisors from 2008 to 2010.

"We are excited to have Frank rejoin the RSAdvisors team after such a distinguished term in government service," Pierre Chao, the firm's founding partner, said in a June 1 statement.

Kendall, the Pentagon's longest-serving acquisition chief, departed his job just as Congress approved a law that would eliminate the position and reassign its responsibilities to two newly created offices.

The Pentagon is expected to send Congress a report by Aug. 1 recommending the best way to break up the acquisition, technology and logistics office and replace it with a new under secretary for research and engineering and an under secretary for acquisition and sustainment.
