Guided-missile frigate RFP coming Nov. 3

The Navy plans to release a request for proposals for guided-missile frigate replacement design on Nov. 3, according to a senior naval acquisition official.

Vice Adm. David Johnson, principal military deputy to the Navy’s acquisition chief, told reporters the long-awaited RFP should not contain any “surprises” for industry because of the numerous conversations the Navy and industry have had about it.

Rear Adm. John Neagley told Inside the Navy last month that there is "unprecedented collaboration" between the acquisition community, resource sponsor, the fleet and industry on the frigate program.
