GAO: Navy 'underrepresented technology risks' in Columbia-class program

The Navy underrepresented technology risks in its largest acquisition program, the Columbia-class ballistic missile submarine, during a readiness assessment completed two years ago, according to a Dec. 21 Government Accountability Office report . GAO said a 2015 technology readiness assessment of the service's Columbia-class submarine "underrepresented the program's technology risks" by not identifying key components as critical to the vessel's performance. Those components include the submarine's integrated power system, nuclear reactor, common missile compartment, propulsor and related coordinated stern technologies...
