DOT&E: Navy will complete operational evaluation of LHA-6 to support 20 F-35s in FY-20

The Navy will complete the operational evaluation of the America-class amphibious assault ship's ability to support 20 Joint Strike Fighters in fiscal year 2020, according to a new Pentagon report. The Marine Corps 2016 Aviation Plan said the evaluation would be complete sometime between 2017 and 2025. By then the service will operate 185 F-35Bs, enough to equip all seven L-class ships.
