Navy broadens concept of operations for multibillion-dollar P-8A fleet

The Navy is broadening the mission set of the P-8A Poseidon fleet to include anti-surface warfare, disaster response, search and rescue and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions. Initially, the Navy built the P-8A Poseidon to focus on the anti-submarine warfare mission. The service is replacing a High Altitude ASW concept of operations with a High Altitude Engagement Focused CONOPs, according to Navy spokeswoman Denver Beaulieu-Hains.
