Senate authorizers direct Navy to focus on lower-tier submarine vendors

A Senate panel is pushing the Navy to focus on submarine industrial base second- and third-tier vendors in its mark of the fiscal year 2019 defense policy bill. The mark allots an additional $250 million above the service's $7.15 billion FY-19 request for either economic order quantity procurement or initiatives to expand the submarine industrial base.
