Navy will install first over-the-horizon missile on Independence-variant LCS

The Navy will install the first Raytheon-Kongsberg-manufactured over-the-horizon missile on an Independence variant of the Littoral Combat Ship, according to the service. On May 31, the service awarded a $14.8 million contract to Raytheon to manufacture and deliver the Naval Strike Missile weapon systems, which consist of encanistered missiles loaded into launching mechanisms and a single fire control suite.
