Navy $6.5 million contract marks nascent shipyard optimization plan efforts

The Navy in February signed a $6.5 million contract with five companies to begin modeling and simulation efforts of Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, according to a Navy spokesman. The five companies are Siemens Government Technology; EngUSA; Bechtel National; Life Cycle Engineering and Orbis. The contract award was not included in the Defense Department's daily announcements because it falls below the $7 million threshold for a publicly announced contract.
