Lord: SCO building mobile nuclear reactor to power overseas military outposts

Pentagon acquisition chief Ellen Lord today said the secretive Strategic Capabilities Office is working to prototype a mobile nuclear reactor that could power U.S. military installations in remote locations. Lord, who spoke at a McAleese & Associates conference in Washington, noted that military installations and outposts are typically hooked up to electrical grids or generators.
