Lockheed Martin's accelerated payments to suppliers now total $365 million

Lockheed Martin said today it advanced another $110 million in payments to suppliers this week, bringing the company's total to $365 million of its $450 million goal.

Additionally, the contractor said it added new employees and now has hired more than 2,100 since the coronavirus crisis began.

Lockheed said this week also saw its first flight since entering a partnership last month with the Department of Health and Human Services to offer its corporate jet fleet to support COVID-19 response efforts. The first trip was from the United States to Germany to pick up bone marrow that will be used for blood transfusions and bone marrow transplants for cancer patients, the company said.

"As part of this partnership, Lockheed Martin will be providing weekly air transport based on government medical need -- flying government medical teams to the most critical, high-priority locations around the country and/or flying to support bone marrow transport to help with the government's COVID-19 response," Lockheed added.
