Army hosting virtual PCTE industry day next month

The Army is hosting a virtual industry day for the Persistent Cyber Training Environment next month, according to a notice posted today.

The industry day will focus on the fourth interaction of a "cyber innovation challenge" from which the service is seeking vendors for the PCTE platform.

The PCTE, part of the Army's Cyber Training, Readiness, Integration, Delivery and Enterprise effort, will provide the Defense Department cyber workforce a joint training environment that will enable cyberspace training, exercises, mission rehearsals, experimentations and more capabilities.

The project manager for cyber resiliency and training is looking to address the PCTE training platform needs within two focus areas: cyber mission force assessment and traffic generation, the notice states.

Focus areas for the CMF assessment capability include an assessment planning tool, data collection, analytics and visualizations, external reporting and scoring criteria and engine, the notice states.

The PCTE traffic generation platform should be able "to define, shape, control and record realistic traffic emulation capabilities as a self-service capability across the plan-prepare-execute-assess lifecycle of cyberspace operations training environments," according to the notice. "Varying degrees of traffic realism and fidelity is expected across IP layers, protocols and devices across user, host and network-based activities that serve to mirror real world activities and terrain."

An additional notice will be released around Aug. 3 with a link to the virtual industry day.

Following the industry day, a request for white papers will be released in the fourth quarter of this fiscal year.

The service plans to award a vendor an other transaction agreement for the PCTE in the first quarter of FY-21.
