Army adds leader-follower tech to artillery resupply vehicle

DETROIT ARSENAL, MI -- The Army has added its leader-follower autonomous driving technology to an artillery resupply vehicle, and it could be added to self-propelled howitzers in the future, service officials said last month. The AMERCA program, or Autonomous Mobility ERCA, could add the autonomous driving capabilities to the Extended Range Cannon Artillery system, the self-propelled howitzer the service is developing that can fire 70 kilometers.
